Lead Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on the design, implementation, and execution of highly complex and/or high profile test cases.
- Mentor and train other QA staff.
- Conduct advanced research and comprehensive, efficient and innovative software testing of highly complex and high profile projects and provide approvals during development sprints, integration, release, regression and patch software development phases; document results.
- Perform comprehensive testing and validate that program modules meet specifications and standards; anticipate risks and issues before they occur and determines short and long term strategies to meet customer’s current and future testing needs.
- Create and maintain test plans and test cases covering highly complex test cases for the product and features.
- Create release test plans ensuring they are comprehensive, efficient and maintained strategically; take primary responsibility for certifying a product release for all testing assignments.
- Participate and provide expertise, innovate ideas, and solutions during agile scrum meetings to gain and apply knowledge of feature requirements, system operation, and ensure new feature stories have appropriate test criteria defined.
- Review and edit highly complex regression test case scripts.
- Execute automated tests scripts and evaluate results to identify strategic solutions.
- Conduct manual testing when automation is not viable.
- Document software defects in the issue-tracking system and proactively communicate with software developers.
- Consult with product/development in the design of acceptance test criteria for new product feature stories.
- Identify opportunities for automating test scripts and assist in the creation of automated test scripts and evaluation.
- Lead product teams on process improvement and other QA initiatives.
- Identify new procedures, methods, and/or tools, to improve the efficiency of the QA process.
- Work with and across teams to accomplish quality initiatives and align processes and tools.
- Proactively stay abreast of the latest trends in software development and quality assurance and proactively identify/implement technical solutions to problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or comparable work experience.
- Typically 8 or more years of automation experience.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of automation development practices, computer science theory, and understanding of relevant technologies.
- Relevant Technologies:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Appium
- Zephyr
- C#, Java, or similar high level language
- Web APIs (SOAP, OData, REST)
- CI/CD Piplines
- Understanding of common automation design patterns such as the page object model.
- Advanced understanding of QA testing methodologies and practices.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated methodologies.
- Strong time management skills with proven track record of delivering successful results.
- Proven experience in leading and providing direction to a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills involving communication technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Agile SCRUM development processes.
