Description

The Internal Staff Trainer designs, develops and facilitates product training for internal employees, including new hire and ongoing education. This position requires the ability to build training content based on research and thorough needs analysis following adult education principles.   

The Internal Staff Trainer is responsible for the ongoing product education of all staff to the level needed for the positions they serve. Product knowledge for all staff is a critical component to our success and the Internal Staff Trainer requires broad and deep knowledge of all Transportation Solutions products and a good understanding of how each department supports them.

Responsibilities

  • Develops training materials, including outline, facilitator guide, participant guide, job aids, training exercises, initial and re-certification assessment tests.
  • Facilitates using a variety of methods in both instructor-led (ILT) and virtual instructor-led (vILT) environments.
  • Evaluates and documents employee performance during training to ensure accuracy and understanding, tracking completion of all training/testing.
  • Utilizes the LMS to compile training records and evaluations for training sessions.
  • Keep domain knowledge current and stay up-to-date on new software functionality through attending product knowledge transfers, demos and support calls.
  • Work with each department manager or SME to determine level of product knowledge necessary based on nuances of positions and customize training as appropriate for both onboarding and continued education of staff.
  • Utilizes adult learning theory principles for curriculum design and delivery.
  • Updates and maintains existing training materials to ensure product updates are included and that practices reflect those currently used in the field. 
  • Works with Implementation and Support staff to identify areas where additional training could improve performance.
  • Works with Support to identify areas where clients need stronger training. Uses this information to modify curriculum and methods to improve effectiveness.
  • Works with Development/Instructional Designer to develop training for upcoming releases.
  • Organize cross-functional training on both software/hardware such as:
    • Imp should receive sales demo and listen/take support calls
    • Sales should attend live training
    • Dev should attend live training and sit on support calls
    • Support should receive sales demo and attend live training

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in educational technology, closely related field, or comparable work experience.
  • Exceptional presentation and knowledge transfer skills.
  • Excellent curriculum development or instructional design skills.
  • Familiarity and ease with computer systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and customer service skills.
