Description

Tyler Technologies Gov2Go team is currently looking for an experienced Product Owner in the Overland Park, KS area.  The Product Owner is responsible for the direction and enhancement of the Gov2Go product (mobile app and web experience) both as a stand-alone product and as a part of larger efforts to combine with other technical products that add value to government clients and their constituents.  This responsibility encompasses the product life cycle from idea through development, launch, operation, and post-release activities. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Act in an expert capacity for assigned product(s), providing an understanding of detailed client requirements.
  • Responsible for owning a prioritized backlog to ensure projects are handled in a timely manner.
  • Work with client base in the demonstration of new features, explanations of product changes, and product future vision.
  • Responsible for ensuring use cases and business specifications meet client requirements.
  • Influence plans and strategies to achieve the product objectives as related to the product area, including published product roadmaps that articulate the product direction to both internal departments and external customers.
  • Work with clients to obtain a detailed understanding of requirements and translate those into highly complex written functional specifications that will enhance products and solutions for projects.
  • Influence priorities of department work.
  • Influence work on new projects for features based on system requirements defined by business system's owners.
  • Support the launching of new releases to the organization and ensuring successful adoption across product-line teams.
  • Proactively communicate with management on the product’s performance, any major issues with the products, or any changes in the market or competition as related to the product area.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the team environment through demonstrated integrity, leadership, and continuous knowledge transfer.
  • Continually engage with inter-department resources to increase product knowledge and build professional skills and domain knowledge.
  • Responsible for the design requirements and documentation with foresight for the future maintainability and growth of the product.
  • Learn and analyze client business requirements, enhancing knowledge as experience grows in the position.
  • Occasional travel may occur.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

 Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Sciences, Management Information Science, Business, or related discipline.  Equivalent work experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience in software products including but not limited to writing and documenting client specifications.
  • Proven track record influencing product direction.
  • Knowledge of common development methodologies (e.g. Agile SCRUM) is helpful.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the full software and product development lifecycle and associated methodologies is helpful.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills involving the ability to manage multiple work tasks effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, collaboration tools (Teams, Trello, Jira, etc.), and product management software (Jira, Aha, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with a team, as well as across functional groups.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally if requested.
 

Scope and Impact (Accountability)

  • The Product Owner facilitates the developed product strategies, provides input into plans, and is responsible for obtaining management team approval and funding for proposed strategies and plans.  As such, impact on the department is very high.
 
 

Complexity

  • Create and maintain relationships with key personnel to engage in requirements validation and to stay abreast of upcoming changes/additions to requirements as it applies to the assigned product area.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate Tyler teams to effectively communicate additions and changes to clients in the assigned product area and the potential effect on their business processes.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to develop strategies to effectively rollout and support changes to the product area in the most accurate and cost-effective manner.
