Position Summary: 
 
As a pivotal member of the accounting team, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring cohesive financial operations. Collaborating closely with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and costing/inventory departments, they will lead accounting functions related to SALT, Fixed/Intangible assets, prepaids, and other non-AP liabilities. Responsibilities encompass maintaining the close calendar, ensuring timely financial reporting, and fostering cooperation among team members to adhere to an accelerated close schedule. The Senior Accountant will actively engage in root cause analysis to drive continuous improvements, working cross-functionally to address exceptions and projects. Additionally, they will oversee audit engagements with external firms, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in both interim and year-end audits. This role offers ample opportunities for professional growth by facilitating enhancements in peer areas such as AP, AR, costing, and participating in budgeting/planning processes. 
 
Reporting Relationships: 
 
The Senior GL Accountant will report to the Controller. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
 
  • Work collaboratively with the 3 other areas in accounting, which are accounts receivable, accounts payable and costing/inventory.
  • Lead the accounting in areas outside of the focuses above, including SALT, Fixed/Intangible assets, prepaids and other (non-AP) liabilities.
  • Maintain the close calendar and seek the cooperation of other team members to adhere to an accelerated close schedule.
  • Prior to reporting, ensure the close process terminates in a complete financial dataset – both at the fiduciary and the department level.
  • Work both cross-functionally and “upstream” to seek out root cause on an exception/project basis and seek continual improvements.
  • Coordinate the audit engagement with our outside firm to ensure a timely and efficient engagement – both the interim and year-end.
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year university.
  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • Willingness, and even a preference, to work onsite M-F
  • Intermediate Excel skills and general comfort with Microsoft Suite (ex. Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Preferred Skills: 
  • Manufacturing/costing experience.
  • Prior experience in consumer products or other industries with strong product development culture.
  • Analytical/technical/process mindset would be helpful and could facilitate a leadership role in costing.
