Job Summary
GUS Education Arizona is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Academic Coordinator to play a key role in building and supporting the academic operations of Avila University Arizona programs delivered in Goodyear. This hands-on position works closely with the Campus Dean and Campus Manager to ensure an exceptional learning experience for students and a smooth teaching environment for faculty.
The Academic Coordinator serves as the hub of academic activity—coordinating faculty, supporting students, and keeping communication flowing seamlessly between academic and administrative teams. Responsibilities
Student Academic Support
- Serve as a trusted first point of contact for students, providing timely and accurate academic guidance and support.
- Respond to student inquiries with professionalism and empathy, directing them to appropriate program, advising, or campus resources.
- Assist in planning and implementing academic workshops, orientation sessions, and student success events that promote learning and engagement.
- Encourage and facilitate open communication channels between students, faculty, and administration to ensure a positive academic experience.
- Gather and track student feedback to support continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and service delivery.
Faculty & Course Support
- Provide day-to-day administrative assistance to the Campus Dean and ensure smooth academic operations across all programs.
- Serve as the main liaison for faculty, supporting them with scheduling, logistics, and classroom resources.
- Coordinate faculty onboarding and orientation, ensuring instructors are informed of policies, tools, and procedures.
- Maintain faculty performance records, including attendance, punctuality, class cancellations, and student concerns.
- Ensure timely submission of syllabi, academic records, and course materials.
- Support special academic projects and maintain databases that help measure and improve program outcomes.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Campus Dean, Campus Manager, advisors, and Student Success team to deliver a coordinated and student-centered academic experience.
- Partner with student services staff to ensure seamless transitions between academic and support functions.
- Contribute to initiatives that enhance student retention, satisfaction, and overall academic quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree in Education preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in higher education, ideally in academic coordination, student advising, or academic support.
- Demonstrated ability to support student success, particularly with adult and international learners.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative and student-centered, with a commitment to maintaining academic quality and integrity.
- Detail-oriented with strong coordination skills and a commitment to accuracy and follow-through.
- Technically proficient and adaptable; comfortable using Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred).
Work Conditions
This position will initially work hybrid/remote, with the expectation of moving to 4 to 5 days per week on-site as the development of the campus allows.
