SpiderLabs is the advanced security team responsible for security research, application security, incident response, penetration testing for Trustwave's clients. In addition, SpiderLabs performs 3rd party security reviews and intelligence for Trustwave's products and provides and security thought leadership to the entire organization. SpiderLabs has responded to hundreds of security incidents, performed thousands of penetration tests and security tested hundreds of business applications for some of the largest organizations in the world. Security Researcher – Email Security

The Security Researcher will be a key team member of the Email Security and Malware Analysis Team based in Auckland, New Zealand, and will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing email threats
  • Development and use of machine learning systems to aid detection of threats
  • Developing and maintaining the team’s systems and tools
  • Monitoring general internet security issues and the wider threat landscape
  • Developing and releasing updated content for Trustwave’s products
  • Researching and producing written reports, analyses, blogs, and commentary on threats and trends.

Requirements

You may have computer security experience. Or you may have a programming background with a security or machine learning bent. In either case, you will have these skills:

  • A passion for computer security
  • Solid research and analytical skills, with an ability to dive deep into complex issues and data,
  • Experience with machine learning is highly desired, knowledge of ML algorithms, scikit-learn, and visualization libraries such as matplotlib, strong statistics knowledge.
  • Solid programming skills; C#, and Python highly desired.
  • Understanding of internet technologies and protocols, e.g. SMTP, HTTP, TCP/IP
  • Ability to write clear and concisely on technical issues
  • Experience with Windows platform, managing applications on Windows Servers. Linux skills also advantageous
  • Ability to take the initiative, self-manage, and to run and manage different tasks simultaneously  

 

Education

We prefer college-educated applicants, but at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required for employment.
