Trustwave, a globally trusted brand for Managed Security Services and Security Solutions is seeking a highly-motivated Director of Systems Engineering (sales) for the Australia-New Zealand region to lead a team of talented Systems Engineers, Solution Architects and Managers focused on Enterprise and Large Enterprise opportunities in a high growth and rapidly scaling environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical security background, be passionate and knowledgeable about security, and have prior extensive experience leading and growing pre-sales teams. An ability to “lead from the front” and a willingness to act as both player and coach to help your team secure the technical win will be key to your success. This role will dual report into the Vice President, Global Systems Engineering, and the General Manager, ANZ.

You will lead our existing sales engineers and solution architects and help us grow and strengthen the team.  You will align closely with the regional sales leadership, Managed Security Services, Product Management, Provisioning, Engineering, and other departments to help close deals and execute strategic solutions for customers and partners.  Core duties include hiring, leading, mentoring, developing a team of Sales Engineers and Solution Architects who are responsible for proposing, designing, and presenting technical solutions that address a customer’s business and technical requirements.  We need a seasoned pre-sales leader with a proven track record growing a sales engineering organization.


Day to Day Operational Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of dynamic and energetic Systems Engineers, and Solution Architects supporting sales in Australia & New Zealand.
  • All aspects of people management, including: Hiring, onboarding, development, training, and mentoring.
  • Drive the transformation of the SE ANZ team to execute against the strategy and vision for the next level of Trustwave growth.
  • Provide leadership for the pre-sales function amongst Trustwave business units and integrate strategic direction into the pre-sales program activities and goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other groups, including Executives, Sales, IS, Provisioning, Support, Engineering, and Product Management, to ensure effective operation of your team, achieve the technical win, and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Peer with regional sales leaders to drive sales and SE strategies, ideas, new opportunities, and the best methods for achieving success in a changing marketplace.
  • Lead from the front, with a track record of actively participating in large, complex sales engagements with relationships with CISO’s, CIO’s, and technical security leaders.
  • Leverage your experience in driving career pathing, SE specializations, and certifications to differentiate and scale Trustwave within the industry.
  • Create and execute the SE strategy and vision for a rapidly growing business in ANZ.
  • Become an expert in our security solutions, enable your team with our training, and provide 1:1 coaching and development at every opportunity.
  • The role will require travel between 25-75% to ensure that sales and client needs are met and exceeded.

Requirements

  • You should have experience leading third line systems engineering leaders, selling next generation security solutions to the enterprise.
  • We’re a Managed Security Services company, so MSS and Security Technology strategies are key.
  • We’re looking for a deep technical background combined with experience in leading change with large teams. We look for deep experience in the design and deployment of technology and solutions in at least two of the core domains: Managed Security, Network Security, Endpoint Security, Database Security, Penetration Testing, Security Consulting, Incident Response, and Threat Detection.
  • We’re anticipating that you’ll have experience and excellent knowledge of Linux, Network architecture/implementation/configuration experience; knowledge of packet flow/TCP/UDP traffic Firewall technologies, proxy technologies, anti-virus, spam and spyware solutions (Gateway and SaaS); and Malware/security experience.
  • Solid understanding and experience working a structured solution design methodology
  • Ability to work in a matrix management model
  • History of creating rapport with customers, from line technicians to C-level executives
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate - live and in color - a complex solution
  • CISSP and related certifications are preferred, but not required.
  • Must have a valid Passport, and ability to travel internationally if required
  • Language skills - English: Fluent

Education:

We prefer college-educated applicants, but at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required for employment.
