Trustwave Singtel and the National University of Singapore (NUS) are partnering in a corporate research lab hosted at NUS and focusing broadly on cyber security.

 

The lab is bringing together these two leading organizations in Singapore with complimentary capabilities in cyber security to address a broad array of the most critical challenges in cyber security for Singapore industry and society. The lab will be directed by Prof David S. Rosenblum from NUS along with Mr Ho Pun from Singtel. The research activities of the lab will be supervised by two dozen PIs from SoC, FOE and CQT, in collaboration with engineers and researchers from Singtel. The result will be the creation and commercialization of a significant and diverse body of new technologies in cyber security, along with the training of significant numbers of new PhDs, researchers and engineers in cyber security. Researchers with good performance will have the opportunity to join Singtel after their stints with the Lab. There is also a possibility for researchers to receive a share of royalties for the IP they produce. 

Project Details

The lab will conduct research in four broad areas of cyber security having strategic relevance to Singtel’s business:

  • Predictive Security Analytics
  • Network, Data and Cloud Security
  • Internet-of-Things and Industrial Control Systems
  • Future-Ready Cyber Security Systems

 

In addition, the lab will opportunistically expand its research to cover other emerging important problem areas and Singtel business objectives as appropriate.

 

Research Assistant/Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects. He/she should possess experience or interest in:

  • Cyber-security for IoT wireless systems
  • Single-board computers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • C++ and Python programming
  • Wireless communications protocols such as WiFi and Bluetooth 

Job requirements:

For Research Fellow Position:

  • A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science;
  • Good publication record; and
  • Experience in research.

 

For Research Assistant Position:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science; and
  • Expertise in programming.

  

The Research Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects. He/she will devise, implement and evaluate (both analytically and empirically) algorithms for privacy risk evaluation and privacy preservation. He/she should possess experience or interest in both theory and applications in the following research areas:

  • Privacy (statistical disclosure, anonymity and anonymization, differential privacy)
  • Statistical machine learning

  

The Research Assistant will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects. He/she should possess experience or interest in at least one of the following research areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Programming Languages & Software Engineering
  • Security
  • Systems and Networking
