We are actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated Intermediate Network Technician to join our team. The Network Technician works for Government client in an OCONUS location. The networks work center is responsible for maintaining the operation and compliance of government IT networks.

The Network Technician is responsible for maintaining, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting network routers, switches and encryption devices. This position interfaces with other work center provides internal resolution and\or problem escalation to resolve outages or degraded network performance. Additionally, network technician routinely interfaces with end users to resolve issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT support role working with at least 3 of the most recent years supporting networking infrastructure

 
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Proactively monitor network status and ticket queues
  • Provide resolution of tickets within the defined Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Follow checklists for periodic tasks to ensure Performance Work Statement (PWS) and IT metrics tasks are met
  • Ensure unresolved issues are reported to Networks lead to be escalated in a timely fashion
  • Report any significant changes and issues on the network to the Networks lead
  • Provide technical input for the development of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP)
  • Follow reporting process for all Commanders Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) events
  • Properly note all actions in tickets and ensure that tickets use the appropriate templates
  • Perform all work following the subscribed Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP)
  • Update network infrastructure documentation to reflect any network changes
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with other support work centers (Desktop, Sys Admin, …)
  • Ensure network infrastructure devices are configured according current Guide (STIG) and these are documented in Security Check List (CKL)
  • As assigned by Networks Lead, participate in proactive projects to improve network services to the customer
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge:

  • Significant experience working with network monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, including: TCP/IP, VLAN, Ethernet, switching, routing\routing protocols (OSPF), 802.1Q, 802.1x, and DNS
  • Experience with Infoblox desired
  • Proven experience in a Network Technician  role
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Experience with Internet VPN troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
  • Experience with VoIP (i.e. Cisco Unified Communication) is desired
  • Solid knowledge of information security principles and practices

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in or related field preferred
  • Possess and maintain an IAT II Certification
    • Current CCNA certification (required)
    • Current Security +

 

Clearance

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active Secret Government Security Clearance with a T3/T3R investigation is required.
