Cyber Security Engineer

Location

Hybrid (Manchester, NH) 

Purpose and Importance of Position

Perform duties in support of the day-to-day operational responsibilities of the Cyber Security Team.  Protect the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of RiverStone data, systems, and information.

Essential Functions

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM), Access Control, and User Account Management
  • Monitor Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) solution.  Respond to requests, tickets, and tasks in a timely, customer-friendly manner.
  • Security Reports and Metrics
  • Managing and administrating security solutions.
  • Responding to Managed Detection & Response (MDR) provider alerts.
  • Research and investigate threats and potential exposures.
  • Develop Security and Privacy Standards, Policies and Procedures

Required Technical Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities (based on NIST NICE framework)

  • A0067 - Ability to adjust to and operate in a diverse, unpredictable, challenging, and fast-paced work environment.
  • A0097 - Ability to monitor system operations and react to events in response to triggers and/or observation of trends or unusual activity.
  • K0005 - Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • K0007 - Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and access control methods. 
  • K0013 - Knowledge of cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools and their capabilities. 
  • K0042 - Knowledge of incident response and handling methodologies. 
  • K0561 - Knowledge of the basics of network security (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, honey pots, perimeter protection).
  • S0003 - Skill of identifying, capturing, containing, and reporting malware.
  • S0076 - Skill in configuring and utilizing software-based computer protection tools (e.g., software firewalls, antivirus software, anti-spyware).
  • S0329 - Skill to evaluate requests for information to determine if response information exists.

Experience

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Information Technology and/or Security role
  • Identity Management systems and processes
  • System or Network administration
  • Data Collection and Report Gathering
  • Define and Implement Protections
  • Risk and Impact Analysis

Required Education

  • Four-year college degree in Computer Security or Computer Science or related field.
  • Additional equivalent years of experience in Information Technology can be substituted for degree.

Preferred Education or Certification

DoD 8570 IAT Level III or CSSP Incident Responder (or higher):

CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP, CEH, CFR, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA Security, CHFI, CySA+, GCFA, GCIH, SCYBER, or Pentest+ (or the ability to pass one of the above within 6 months of hire).

Minimal, based upon business needs.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position operates in a professional, collaborative environment and must have the ability to timely produce thorough, accurate work with many competing demands, deadlines, and distractions. The position uses standard equipment such as phones, computers, copiers/printers and filing cabinets. Noise level is moderate.
