Associate Facilities Technician

Summary

Responsible for assisting in maintaining the facility; and/or working closely with building management and vendors to keep the facilities in working order and safe for employees and visitors.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in small building projects and assists the Facilities Coordinator with larger renovation projects.
  • Moves furniture and/or office supplies.
  • Performs semi-skilled and skilled carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and sheetrock projects as needed. 
  • Assists the Facilities Coordinator with preventative maintenance work.
  • Respond to customer requests, monitoring heating and AC in the building.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Performs a variety of electrical repairs and maintenance such as replacement of switches, lighting systems, and generators.  Assists the Facilities Coordinator in replacing damaged or worn electrical components and takes corrective action.
  • Prepares surfaces for staining, frosting, and painting, and applies product to the building's interiors and woodwork.
  • Performs general building maintenance- constructs and repairs shelves, cabinets, countertops, and furniture as needed.  Repairs carpets and tiles as necessary.  Repairs doors and ceilings.
  • Plumbing- Assists the Facilities Coordinator with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing fixtures such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
  • Makes and distributes keys.
  • Inspect the facility regularly to determine renovation needs and/or safety.
  • Breaks down and sets up for large meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships, both internally and externally.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, and painting.

  • Operating tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Making match calculations for measurement of materials.
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook and service desk logging system.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to develop long-lasting relationships with internal and external business partners.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of general maintenance work required.

Required Education

GED or High School Diploma preferred.

Travel

Local travel to vendors is required.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, shop, and outdoor environments and can be exposed to dust, odors/fumes, and noise.  Performs a variety of tasks that require sitting, standing with movement, walking, bending/stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching above and below the shoulder, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and lifting objects of up to 50 pounds.
