Position Description:

 

BCycle is a complex, multi-tier software platform providing a world-class bike share ecosystem built on top of a variety of technology such as embedded firmware, kiosk software, web services, and mobile experiences. If you’re interested in green transit, urban planning and community building, read on!

 

The Technical Operations Technician will work with the CI Engineer and Product team to create technical training and troubleshooting documentation for BCycle hardware and systems. This person will collaborate with internal BCycle teams to help push development, deployments and operations forward using agile methodologies. They will also serve as a Level 2 Customer Service rep working with customers, vendors and operators.

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Benchmark operators’ operations departments.
  • Maintain documentation library.
  • Become technical expert on new technologies from BCycle.
  • Work with operators and vendors to schedule updates and manage new product/firmware deployments
  • Make technical suggestions regarding modifications to documentation and products based off usage and failure analysis.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and assist in resolving hardware / software issues
  • Assist in managing the use of test equipment by creating usage plans and techniques for new equipment and by maintaining equipment in operating order.
  • Stay current with all technology related to hardware, software, and networks used and available for use by BCycle.

 

 

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • Travel up to 50%; varies based on season and implementation schedules.
  • Located in a BCycle city (Madison, WI preferred).
  • Ability to stand, stoop and lift 55lbs
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions

 

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • A self-starter with the ability to communicate and work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and identify critical tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • An understanding of the Scientific Method and the ability to apply it in troubleshooting situations.
  • Proven technical and mechanical aptitude and critical thinking.
  • Experience with bike share and bike share operations.
  • Bicycle mechanic experience preferred.
