Trek’s Web Technologies department is seeking eager, enthusiastic and talented students for our ongoing internship program. We aim to give opportunities for students who are looking to gain real life experience with software development principles and concepts learned in school, offer the ability to work with a world class company and brand that pushes the cycling industry forward through use of technology.  Our program will offer opportunities to be mentored in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment; working on special projects, technical support issues, assisting our day to day team with agile development, as well as learning about the cycling industry – all with a work hard play hard mentality! 



Position Description: 

Trek’s Web Technologies team is looking for interns who are interested in gaining experience as a front end developer for a software team that focuses on web, mobile and app software. The internship role will provide an experience working with experienced members of the team as well as other interns to deliver value to the organization. The front end development intern will assist in building responsive web applications.   


Position Responsibilities:                                                                    

The front end developer will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, Agile software development environment.  This will estimate and deliver front-end solutions, work closely with business stakeholders and other development teams to design and create new user experiences. The developer will work with their mentors to review code, get feedback on UI, UX, and engineering best practices. The developer will also contribute to the troubleshooting of complex front end issues during the project and provide solutions to solve them 


Our internship program focuses on 4 major components which have responsibilities as follows: 


Special Projects 

Interns will work collaboratively on a special project where they bring ideas for a project using new technologies to hone skills.  This will require you to utilize skills for brainstorming sessions, reporting and pitching ideas to management, project management and troubleshooting skills, and meeting management. Outcome of the special project will be presented to the Web Tech teamwhat was the idea, how was the project accomplished and a demo of what the output was. 


Technical Support  

Support is a major component of our daily work. This role will assist with daily triage of support tickets which includes finding root causes and developing fixes for these issues. 


Assisting Web Tech Team 

Internwill pair up with up with experienced staff members to gain experience in the activities involved in successful completion an epic. 


Trek as a Brand and Company 

As part of the internship team, you will be participating in the activities that drive the company mission and develop stewardship skills toward cycling. 



Position Requirements: 

  • Working towards a degree in information technologies, graphic design, or related discipline  
  • Experience with HTML and CSS, Javascript is a plus 
  • Accountable and strong communicator while working with teams. 
  • Eagerness to learn more about websites, how they are built, and how they can be made better  


What you will learn: 

  • JavaScript, SASS, Foundation and other front end tools and frameworks 
  • Understanding of UX and engineering best practices and software design 
  • Familiarity with build tools and package managers such as Grunt, NPM or Yarn 
  • Agile methodologies 
  • Communication with business analysts, quality analysts, back end developers, designers, and user experience experts.
