Position Title: PSW Program Supervisor

Faculty Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership and bring excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Personal Support Worker – PSW Hybrid / NACC Certificate.
- Identify the need for faculty resources, participate in the hiring process, and make effective recommendations regarding Instructor selection.
- Onboard new departmental faculty and serve as a mentor in the implementation of effective teaching skills.
- Participate in Instructor induction and maintain records of Instructor observation & appraisal.
- Review and provide input to appraisals for Instructors as requested by the Academic Director.
- Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, graduation exercises, and other functions as directed.
- Oversee the assessment process for all Instructors including internal and external verification processes in association with QA team.
- Conduct student specific program orientations.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation in areas of responsibility.
- Maintain professional registration through your governing body
Program and Curriculum Development
- Participate in professional development activities and programs as required by accreditation/regulatory agencies (MUC/NACC).
- Manage the teaching and learning material and evaluations within the program to ensure best pedagogical practices are implemented. These include engaging activities and lessons which showcase active learning strategies, rigorous assessments with detailed rubrics.
- Complete the Program Annual Review which involves analyzing program data and reflecting on the quality of the student experience to identify areas of future improvement.
- Ensure alignment to meet NACC expectations.
Teaching Load
- Teach a minimum of 210 hours, or 30% (theory and/or practical courses) of the PSW program of AT LEAST one (1) PSW Program annually. This includes delivering course content, grading assessments and providing feedback to students.
Student Success
- Liaise with student success for routine monitoring of attendance, student integration, student progression, and disciplinary matters and provide strategies for problem-solving.
- Oversee and execute orientation day timetables and presentations.
- Liaise with different departments on academic and other student-related matters and placement coordination.
- Engage students by tutoring and academic counseling while evaluating students’ progress and achievement.
- Ensure all educational activity is conducted in a legal and ethical manner.
- Challenge ideas and encourage students to develop skills and knowledge in critical and rational thinking.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- RN with current CNO registration and NO practice restrictions, who is responsible for the active and ethical delivery of every PSW Program taught at the college campus.
- 3 to 5 years of training experience in the vocation, equivalent work experience, or a combination of both relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in a long-term care/hospital/community/ chronic care setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Previous curriculum and program development experience is considered an asset.
- Previous teaching experience at a college or university is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, supervising student work, and providing support and feedback is highly desirable.
- Energy and drive, superior communication abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team of educators with diverse backgrounds.
- Appropriate academic credentials for teachable subjects are essential.
- Dynamic individual with knowledge of creating positive learning experiences with young adult learners.
- Ability to communicate complex information to a range of diverse students both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated a commitment to diversity and equity is desirable to interact effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
- Proven experience in an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Capable of working independently as well as being part of a team.
