Vice President, Business Development

Treadwell Therapeutics is a private, clinical-stage oncology company with a presence in the US, Canada, and Hong Kong. The company’s vision is to create a multi-modality, multi-asset and multi-national biotechnology organization developing first-in-class and best-in-class medicines to address unmet needs for cancer patients. We are currently developing three lead clinical stage small molecule candidates with first in class mechanisms and early signs of clinical utility while advancing several undisclosed antibody programs that are showing compelling pre-clinical efficacy. In addition, Treadwell is using a proprietary discovery platform to identify TCRs to address both solid and liquid tumors with significant unmet needs using autologous T cell therapy. We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who share our passion for science.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Vice President, Business Development who will be a key contributor in shaping the future success of Treadwell Therapeutics globally.  This role will work closely with the CEOs to develop the long-range corporate strategy for product development, private and public financings.  It is integral to the organization in driving the business development and the due diligence process including identifying, evaluating, as well as negotiating and completing significant business transactions with potential pharmaceutical and top-tier biotechnology companies.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small team, work on transformative science, and take part in building an exciting, science-driven company.  This position reports to the CEOs.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Design an executive business roadmap of potential business opportunities, including internal and external development programs, and financing opportunities through partnerships.
  • Lead business development strategy and activities with a high focus on driving transactions for key alliances, corporate partnerships, in and out licensing agreements.
  • Continuously drive creative solutions and present new opportunities to improve Treadwell’s performance and competitive advantage / differentiation.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, term sheet development, negotiation and execution of business transactions.
  • Effectively present to pharma and biotechnology organizations the potential benefits of partnering or licensing with Treadwell.
  • Identify, develop, and nurture scientific and business relationships within bio-pharmaceutical/biotech companies and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with internal clinical development and finance on evaluation, due diligence, and technical assessments for inbound inquiries on Treadwell’s assets. This includes leading/supporting the overall program evaluation process, including clinical/scientific assessments, evaluation of the commercial opportunity, analysis of the competitive landscape, and financial modeling.
  • Leverage professional network to generate a differentiated competitive advantage in business development activities.
  • Develop agreements in collaboration with legal for licensing and acquisition transactions.
  • Monitor competitive intelligence by keeping up to date on market trends, competitors, and opportunities.
  • Ability to travel as needed for execution of transaction or prospecting new opportunities.

Education, Experience, Competencies

  • Master’s degree or above (Ph.D. preferred, MBA a plus)
  • Minimum 15+ years of BD, corporate development and or strategy experience within the biotech and pharma industry
  • Strong scientific background in immune-oncology, immunology, or cell therapy
  • Established pharma business development network, with relationships with big pharma BD leadership
  • Solid out-licensing and collaboration deal track record is plus. Experience with financial modeling and product portfolio strategy
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities, structuring, negotiating, and closing transactions including strategic alliances, M&A, licensing agreements, joint ventures, equity investments, etc.  “Sell side” experience a plus
  • Competent in financial analysis tools, corporate and product valuation as necessary to successfully execute deals
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a complex matrix environment and building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as external parties
  • Entrepreneurial thinker and attitude, highly creative and comfortable with hands on startup culture
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking skills, and solution oriented
