Safety & Security Manager
The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and with company safety requirements. Responsible for continuous leadership, recruitment and training of operator candidates. Promotes strong leadership and influences positive employee morale throughout the location. This position is based in Goodyear, AZ in supporting WeRide.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with driving, safety, substance testing, and workplace injury policies and regulations.
- Develop and implement safety procedures and operational policies aligned with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
- Oversee training and follow-up for safety violations; conduct live and recorded driver observations to ensure safety and customer service standards.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, incidents, accidents, and injuries, in coordination with Operations Supervisors.
- Manage and enter payroll data for student operators using ADP.
- Maintain and administer the DriveCam program and lead all safety-related initiatives, including weekly and monthly safety events.
- Chair the location Safety Committee and oversee ADA compliance, including annual wheelchair refresher training.
- Maintain secure and up-to-date training, safety, and personnel files.
- Respond to safety-related inquiries, incidents, and accidents within the service area.
- Ensure timely completion of 30/60/90-day post-trainee evaluations.
- Serve as the primary contact for the WeRIDE rider code of conduct program
- Administer the FTA drug and alcohol testing program and ensure compliance.
- Deliver safe and timely service and conduct monthly in-service refresher trainings for Operators.
- Maintain deep knowledge of contract requirements and operational protocols.
- Provide backup support for Dispatch and revenue service driving as needed.
- Stay current with system software, telecommunications tools, and related technology.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Service Management, Operations Supervisors, and General Manager to drive performance improvements.
- Prepare and deliver reports, data, and required documentation, including accident reports and annual National Transit Database (NTD) surveys.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all operational and personnel information.
- Other duties as required.
- Travel requirement outside of the immediate area (as a percent): <5%
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Transit, Paratransit, or Microtransit operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative in resolving operational and personnel issues
- Ability to objectively investigate and respond to operator-related concerns and incidents
- Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
- Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and use sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Technical knowledge and related work experience is a plus
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, if applicable. Note: DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
