Safety Desk Manager
Position Summary
Transdev is seeking a Safety Desk Manager to oversee Road Safety Supervisors (RSSs) and Safety Desk Supervisors (SDSs) while ensuring strict compliance with the BPS–Transdev contract. This role balances desk-based safety operations and on-the-road supervision, supporting safe, efficient transportation services in a fast-paced environment.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $62,000 - $77,000

Benefits include:

  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure RSS operations comply with all contractual, safety, and company requirements
  • Supervise and manage SDSs and RSSs, including performance, scheduling, training, and discipline
  • Coordinate and maximize use of RSS personnel and safety vehicles to meet operational needs
  • Dispatch emergency responders (Police, Fire, EMTs) when required
  • Monitor, verify, and ensure accurate data input into dispatch, safety, incident reporting, and timekeeping systems
  • Ensure timely completion, documentation, and distribution of reports, notifications, and follow-ups
  • Maintain professional radio communication and enforce proper radio protocols
  • Conduct monthly inspections of safety vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain professional communication with Transdev Operations and Maintenance teams, schools, public safety officials, and parents
  • Split responsibilities evenly between Safety Desk operations and on-the-road supervision
  • Attend meetings to review performance goals, safety metrics, and employee concerns
  • Make quick, sound decisions in a dynamic, safety-sensitive environment
  • Follow all Transdev policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned
 
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Five (5) years of passenger transportation experience
  • Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and additional hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dispatch experience in the transportation industry
  • School bus or school transit experience
 
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor and audit data input for accuracy and compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to multitask using radios, phones, laptops, and dispatch systems
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with labor unions and diverse teams
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
  • Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
