Maintenance Manager

Overview:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team, including mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and administrative staff. This role ensures the efficient upkeep, inspection, and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment to meet DOT, client, and company standards.
Operating within a 24/7 maintenance facility, the Maintenance Manager ensures all scheduled maintenance, testing, and inspections are completed effectively to uphold safety, reliability, and performance standards.
The Maintenance Manager also oversees preventative maintenance, repairs, charging, and cleaning operations to ensure fleet readiness, maximize uptime, and provide safe, high-quality service. Additionally, this role manages vendor relationships, supervises parts inventory, and ensures all maintenance functions align with manufacturer specifications and service expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operations & Safety
- Preventative Maintenance & Fleet Management: Develop, implement, and oversee a proactive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and ensure all fleet vehicles and equipment remain in optimal condition.
- Repair Supervision: Manage all repair activities, ensuring timely and effective resolutions to maintain fleet reliability and efficiency.
- Charging & Cleaning Oversight: Supervise daily vehicle charging and cleaning operations, ensuring all vehicles are well-maintained, presentable, and ready for operation. Provide structure and guidance to team members in alignment with company policies.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance work adheres to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Warranty Repairs Coordination: Schedule and oversee warranty repairs with dealerships, ensuring all necessary repairs are completed efficiently and documented properly.
- Parts Procurement & Inventory Management: Identify and forecast necessary parts for maintenance and repairs, manage parts ordering, and maintain accurate inventory records. Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure spare parts availability.
- Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination: Work with vendors to address supply chain issues impacting service operations and ensure timely procurement of parts and supplies. Oversee aftermarket modifications to autonomous vehicles.
- Team Leadership & Scheduling: Hire, train, and schedule maintenance technicians, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational demands. Approve repair and maintenance priorities based on material availability and scheduled operations.
- Budget & Cost Management: Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings and service delivery improvements.
- Safety & Compliance Implementation: Establish and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve service delivery methods, enhance maintenance processes, and support change management initiatives.
- Vendor & External Work Coordination: Oversee work performed by outside vendors, ensuring compliance with company standards and operational requirements.

Required Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in an automotive-related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment, with at least 5 years focused on fleet maintenance (autonomous fleet maintenance experience is a plus).
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or fleet operations environment.
- ASE certifications preferred (A Series, H Series, and L3). Ford Transit EV certification required; training may be available if not currently certified.
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Extensive experience working with electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to utilize proprietary software to diagnose, calibrate, and repair vehicle components.
- Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Broad understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
- Must be able to pass a background check and federally regulated DOT drug screening. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Clean driving record required.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity conditions, with 100% of the job performed outside, often in remote locations.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods (6–8 hours per day) and frequently walk long distances, including on sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to push and pull objects as required throughout the workday and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, or reach for files or equipment stored at ground level.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, moderate to high noise levels, and heavy traffic areas while performing job duties.
- Hands-on repairs of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, or kneeling, primarily in a sheltered outdoor environment.
- Role may require working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and damp environments.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must be 21 years old;
- Does not have more than 1 point on the driving record (California), or one non-major moving violation in the preceding three years;
- Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (i.e. Gmail, Hangouts, and Driver, including Sheets and Docs
- Has not had any driver’s license suspension or revocation based on driving or operating any
vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug in the past 10 years;
- Never been the at-fault driver of a motor vehicle involved in an accident that resulted in
injury or death of any person.
- Must have and maintain a driving record that meets state AVT (Autonomous Vehicle Tester) and/or other applicable regulations and laws; and
- Meets driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history under applicable regulations and laws in the state(s) in which the autonomous vehicle monitor will be working;
- All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening

- Employees must maintain an acceptable Driving Record suitable to being approved to drive as part of their regular duties. Records are monitored on an ongoing or regular basis pursuant to local state law.
