As a Paratransit Road Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in enabling individuals with diverse needs to access essential services, activities, and experiences within their communities. Your dedication to safety and exceptional customer service will be at the forefront of your responsibilities, ensuring that each passenger's journey is comfortable, reliable, and accommodating while training and developing our operators.
*If applying internally must receive approval from the Safety and Training Manager and General Manager. Attendance, accidents and incidents, and your disciplinary file will be taken into consideration.
Responsibilities:
- Always demonstrate a “safety first” mindset.
- Conduct initial new operator training and retraining as needed.
- Performs observational spot checks on operator’s safety, driving, and customer service skills.
- Monitors operator and passenger behavior while in service.
- Ensures operators are fit-for-duty at all times.
- Performs on-the-spot coaching, training, and evaluations when necessary to assist operators in overcoming operational challenges and to maintain compliance with all company policies and client specifications.
- Conducts on the road observations of service to ensure proper implementation of all policies and procedures.
- Assesses and reports safety conditions that may affect service and/or routes. (Ex. road conditions, fallen wires, tree damage, etc.)
- Communicates face-to-face with the riding public as a customer service agent.
- Processes passenger complaints and initiates corrective actions designed to improve customer relations and services.
- Initiates investigations into causes of accidents, interviews operators to determine responsibility, takes actions on findings, and submits reports to management.
- Works with dispatch to assist them with efficient operations, timeliness, vehicle swaps, and aids in communication between the shop if needed.
- Active involvement with campaign trainings and safety programs.
- Provides daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Completes trips and routes as needed for business demands in revenue service vehicle.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old (for insurance purposes ONLY).
- Punctual with an emphasis on attendance.
- Clean background and driving record.
- Must have possessed a valid driver's license for a minimum of 3 years.
- Possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of operator and shop safety standards preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and/or shifts. This includes weekends.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Physical Requirements:
- 10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- 90% of work is accomplished in an open garage facility or on the road.
- Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, bending, and stooping. Must be able to lift or handle up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.
- Must be able to drive a revenue service vehicle and supervisor vehicle.
