Fleet Auto Mechanic for Paratransit Services
Overview: Join our team as an Auto Mechanic and play a crucial role in ensuring our para transit fleet is safe and well-maintained. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team, performing a variety of mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks under moderate supervision. Schedules are subject to change based on client and company demands.

Major Responsibilities:
- Perform basic and advanced maintenance tasks.
- Conduct mechanical repairs such as brake inspections and repairs, engine tune-ups, suspension work, and drivetrain maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, including parts and supplies used.
- Assist in preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety inspections, and annual maintenance checks as scheduled.
- Collaborate with team to remove and replace engine, transmission, and differential assemblies.
- Diagnose and accurately repair vehicle and equipment issues, notifying supervisors of potential safety concerns.
- Evaluate completed work prior to release, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).
- B Techs are expected to obtain and maintain a 608/609 Certification and a minimum of 3 ASEs including an H8 or T8. For each ASE Certification obtained and maintained above the minimum requirement the company shall pay the employee an additional $0.25 per hour, for each additional ASE maintained up to a total of 10. The following ASEs qualify for the maximum 10: A1 – A8, T1 – T8, H1 – H8, L1, L2, E2.
- State inspection license preferred or willing to obtain a state inspection license (on personal time) and the company shall reimburse the employee for the class.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Intermediate mechanical aptitude with at least 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficiency in adhering to state DOT standards for vehicle inspections and safety regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and comfortable using hand tools.
- Intermediate computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are well-maintained.
- Regular attendance is essential to meet the demands of the role.
Additional Requirements:
- Possess a sufficient inventory of mechanic tools to complete assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical, and background screening.
