Maintenance Foreman - Herndon

Transdev and the Fairfax Connector are looking for a qualified individual to help lead our Maintenance team in Herndon and empower people with the freedom to go!
The Maintenance Foremen will be responsible for supervising mechanics performance, planning and assigning work for employees to maximize labor utilization and employee technical competencies, monitoring productivity, ensuring quality and quantity of work output, and the efficiency of the department.

DUTIES:
· Supervise mechanics, investigates issues and problems, provides information concerning employee performance.
· Works closely with Maintenance Manager to monitor productivity and perform required quality audits on work performed on assigned shift.
·Provides feedback to the Maintenance Manager on employee performance and technical training needs.
· Assists with monitoring and meeting standards/goals of analytical targets to name a few: Mean Distance Between Failures, Cost Per Mile, Financial performance and PM Compliance.
· Plans and assigns work for employees to maximize labor utilization and employee technical competencies
·Consults with mechanics on diagnosis and procedures for repair and assists with technical questions.
· Ensures proper utilization of RTA or client software by all assigned personnel.
· Ensures completion of all RTA or client software supervisory activity by the end of assigned shift.
· Keeps facility/grounds clean and ensure that all personnel work in a safe manner.
· Ensure compliance with all shift and shop reporting requirements.
·Supervises shop operations to support service requirements.
· Works with Maintenance Manager to determine the root cause for poor labor utilization, rework and service interruptions.
·Ensures that work orders for repairs to vehicles are performed, reviews past work orders for repairs to vehicles, and assists Maintenance Manager in the review and closure of current work orders.
· Oversee inspections, complete vehicle safety assessments and inspections to ensure vehicles are safe to operate and meet all requirements.
· Works with parts personnel to obtain the correct replacement parts.
· Assists Maintenance Manager with the listing and scheduling of vehicles for preventative maintenance.
·Monitors the status of down/out-of-service equipment and issues a daily report.
·Has moderate contact with others outside vendors regarding the repair/maintenance of the vehicles.
· Other duties as assigned for the safe and efficient operation of the department.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma. College degree or some college preferred.
2. 3+ years diesel/heavy duty technical experience.
3. 3 years supervisor experience overseeing employees on multiple shits.
4. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair the most difficult of all vehicle and equipment service.
5. Must possess 609 and 608 air conditioning certificates and at least five H or T series ASE certifications of which two must consist of T6, T7, H6 or H7.
6. Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal, and written skills a must.
7. Must have a valid CDL license.
8. RTA experience a plus.
9. Proficiency using Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
10. Must be detailed orientated, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
11. Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations.
12. Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
13. Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
14. Must be able to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers.

· Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of passengers and materials.
· Must be able to lift or handle up to 100 pounds (i.e., strapping in passengers and the loading and unloading passengers, etc.).
· Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
· Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.
· Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
