The Rail division of Transdev, provides an integrated suite of railroad infrastructure maintenance, signaling, project oversight, and construction services to our clients, both freight and passenger rail.  This position is based in Miami, FL, in supporting the RTA Maintenance of Way Rail Project.

Transdev is proud to offer:

  • Competitive compensation package of $85,000 - $95,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of the Signal and Communication maintenance personnel.
  • Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of the Transdev Rail safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage payroll and overtime to ensure efficiency.
  • Train and instruct employees in proper work methods.
  • Ensures that the Signal and Communication employees are in compliance with corporate employment policies, procedures, safety regulations and operating rules.
  • Create and maintain various reports for management.
  • Maintain material inventory levels.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Weekend duty rotation with other management staff.
  • Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): <10%

 

Experience Required:

  • Must have ten (10) years of experience obtained over the last twenty (20) years with a Class 1 or 2 railroad and/or commuter rail operations and three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

 

Education:

  •     High School Diploma or GED/equivalent

 

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledgeable in Communications and Signals (C&S) practices
  • Knowledgeable in dispatch systems
  • Knowledgeable in FRA Regulations and AREMA Standards
  • Ability to maintain the system databases, including track and signal layout databases, generate system performance reports, and ensure that the system remains functional.
  • Ability to coordinate with Dispatch System provider and understand other maintenance and upgrade functions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot any C&S problem and provide guidance on how to repair same.
  • Ability to make accurate cost-efficient evaluations or work situations.
  • Ability to install, modify, upgrade, repair and test any C&S Equipment.
  • Ability to assess the need for and provide an accurate accounting of a Material ordered for the work.
  • Ability to review and verify the legitimacy of all labor and material cost documents.
  • Ability to create detailed technical records of proposed and completed work.
  • Ability to implement a proactive maintenance program.
  • Ability to read, understand and direct Work based on Signal plans.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift objects weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. and must have the ability to distinguish colors and to hear warning signals, radio and telephone devices

 

On-call 24/7, 365 days a year, with allowances for vacations, sick leave, and related time off.
