  •  Must have a valid driver’s license. Class B CDL preferred but will train (will be expected within 3 months of start of training)  
  • ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year (expected to have 3 ASE certifications within 12 months of hire

Job Purpose: This position requires the level of knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair work on vehicles (buses, trucks, vans etc.) which adheres to Transdev standards. Handles more complex problems and can resolve independently.  This individual must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with employees and customers.  Particular attention will be on timeliness and quality of repairs.  All work is to be performed with a commitment to safety.  
Responsibilities:  
  • Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repair
  • Remove, clean, repair, reinstall and adjust vehicle components
    • Engine repair and diagnosis
    • Engine emission components
    • Driveline components
    • Electrical / electronic components
    • Brakes / suspension / steering / exhaust
    • Cab / chassis
    • Hydraulics
    • Various Scan tool proficient
  • Ensure work orders are properly completed
  • Select appropriate course of action for repairs
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release
  • Ensure safe use of power and hand-held tools
  • Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
  • Moves vehicles safely between job and work area
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors
  • Actively participates in safety or educational training as required
  • Continuous ASE re-certification is required to remain in job classification
  • The above duties are not meant to restrict initiative but rather to define minimum activities. These duties may be altered to suit the needs of the company as required including travel to other Transdev locations.
  • Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintained in a clean and safe manner
Experience:  
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience
  • Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards
  • Intermediate problem-solving ability
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Comfortable using hand tools
  • Strong customer service skills and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  
   
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  
  • Maintenance Shop environment with dust, dirt and grease conditions
  • Ability to work under all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a crouched position or on back, lying on mechanic’s creeper, beneath motor vehicle equipment
   
Education:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent
