Description

The Utility worker must be able to perform basic vehicle and servicing duties. They must also be able to perform detail cleaning and fueling of equipment and cleaning the facility with limited supervision. The Utility worker will be responsible for pulling the vaults and replacing them daily as the revenue units return from service. This position requires the ability to work all shifts including nights and weekends.  
Responsibilities:  
   
  •  Daily fueling of all vehicles as required. Documentation of all fluid transactions in log sheet.
  •  Daily pulling and dumping of fare box vaults.
  •  Daily cleaning of interior and exterior of all vehicles as required including sweeping and removal of graffiti and debris from the interior to include floors, seats, walls, ceilings, windows, etc. Removal of all refuse. Operate hand and power cleaning equipment, including vacuums and scrubbers. Daily check of all vehicle tires for air pressure and damage.
  •  Daily check of all units brought through fuel island for body damage, proper working lights.
  •  Responsible for moving or positioning a variety of equipment.
  •  Clean vehicles at locations remote from the maintenance facility such as at transfer centers or relief points.
  •  Responsible for disinfecting and cleaning shop and facilities and other housekeeping duties including removal of garbage from receptacles.
  •  Will be responsible for completing required forms for entry into computer system.
  •  Other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the facility.
  
Qualifications:  
   
  •  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  •  Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  •  Knowledge of shop safety standards.
  •  Must be well organized.
  •  Must be able to read and write English.
  •  Must have Georgia Drivers' License
  •  CDL with airbrakes preferred.
  •  Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant or immediate supervision.
  •  Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
  •  Ability to work as a team.
  •  Must be PC literate.

  •  <10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
  •  70% of work is accomplished in an open garage facility.
  •  20% of work is accomplished in an outdoor setting, outside of the facility.
  •  Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
  •  Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, bending, and handling materials.
  •  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
Unique Working Conditions:  
   
Works around fumes/odors and chemicals; works around heavy machinery and safety hazards.  
   
Additional Job Requirements:  
  •  Wear uniforms.
  •  Wear Specific Safety related items including all required Personal Protective Equipment.
