Your Part in It:
Working out of our Chicago office, we are looking for our next Entry Writer. Working within the Customs Department, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with national and international customs regulations. You will manage the customs clearance process, optimize duty drawback procedures, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to streamline customs operations.
 
ENTRY WRITER
What the Job Entails:
  • Customs Classification: Accurately classify goods using tariff codes, ensuring compliance with national and international customs regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on changes to customs laws, regulations, and policies, ensuring all activities adhere to current standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare, review, and submit required customs documentation and reports. Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections.
  • Cargo Management: Oversee the customs clearance process for all cargo types, coordinating with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and adherence to standards.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, customs authorities, and external partners to resolve issues, facilitate smooth operations, and enhance service quality.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customs brokerage.
  • Expertise in tariff classification and HS code application.
  • Understanding of customs regulations and procedures, including the duty drawback process.
  • Experience in CargoWise customs softaware is a strong asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexible working hours is an asset.
  • Certification in customs-related programs (e.g., CCS, CTCS) is an advantage.
