The Customs Compliance Associate will assist the Customs Compliance Manager to ensure Torrid's customs compliance operations meet the federal guidelines and adhere to import and export regulations. The position has the responsibility to meet all relevant requirements in cross-border shipping and business activities to ensure proper classifications, paperwork, and duties paid are in order at the time of entry. The position will work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Sourcing, Merchants, and DC Transportation Teams.

What You'll Do:
  • Communicate with the appropriate government officials to ensure Torrid understands their obligations.
  • Obtains the necessary certifications for each transaction or shipment.
  • Works with Sourcing and/or Merchants to assign proper classifications to apparel, shoe, and accessory items according to calendared timing.
  • Works with Finance and Import Transportation to provide the required documentation and ensure duty payments to the government are processed in a timely manner. Partner as needed to investigate and resolve inventory receiving issues.
  • Perform periodic audits of import transactions for compliance and accuracy validation.
  • Be prepared for CBP audit at any time.
  • Communicates closely with SVP, Product Supply Chain on all Customs and Trade relevant issues.
  • Possibly travel to Ohio Distribution Center to collaborate with the Transportation Team.
  • Maintain relationship with External Customs Broker.
  • Assist in managing duty drawback program
  • Assist in updating and maintaining customs compliance manual
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1 year job related experience in import and export environment working with brokers, forwarders, and couriers required.
  • 2-3 years in a customs compliance environment
  • in an apparel/ footwear company preferred.
  • Experience in HTS classifications, import duties, free trade zones and tariff engineering
  • Understanding of U.S. customs regulations.
  • Intermediate Excel and data analysis skills

Salary range:   $26.04-31.83
