Description

Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Project & Capital Planning Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing hospital facility improvement projects, capital planning initiatives, capital equipment implementation, department relocations, and operational improvement projects throughout Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

Core Competencies

  • Coordinates multiple hospital facility improvement projects simultaneously from planning through completion. 

  • Develops project scopes, preliminary cost estimates, project budgets, schedules, and implementation timelines

  • Coordinates capital planning projects and assists with long-range facility improvement initiatives.

  • Evaluates capital equipment requests to determine facility, utility, infrastructure and space requirements.

  • Coordinates facility-related requirements for capital equipment implementation, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, communications, structural and utility impacts.

  • Coordinates project meetings and communicate project status Facilities leadership and stakeholders. 

  • Coordinates the Pre-Construction Risk Assessment (PCRA) process, including scheduling meetings, preparing documentation, obtaining approvals, and communicating project impacts

  • Performs routine project site observations to monitor contractor performance, infection prevention measures, project quality, safety practices, cleanliness, and compliance with hospital operational standards. 

  • Coordinates department relocations, including furniture, equipment, utility coordination, vendor scheduling, and occupancy readiness

  • Reviews contractor proposals and assists with project cost evaluations and change requests.

  • Maintains complete project documentation, including project scopes, budgets, schedules, meeting minutes, PCRA documentation, contractor correspondence, project files, and clos-out documentation.
