MRI Technologist - Per Diem Days

Under general supervision, prepares patients for and performs M.R.I. examinations. | |
Core Competencies | |
Screens and interviews patients about to undergo MRI examinations. | |
Screens visitors, other hospital employees and anyone entering the 5 Gauss line with any and all ferromagnetic materials, pacemakers, ID badges, tools, etc. | |
Enforces safety policies regarding MRI scanning, makes self aware of all administrative policies with regard to departmental procedures, protocols, care and proper cleaning of equipment. | |
Performs procedures as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedures manual. | |
Selects proper F.O.V. and matrix sizes, technical factors and computer program as so to obtain the best quality image. | |
Prepares, calculates and administers intravenous (MR) contrast when applicable. | |
Understands his/her role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only. | |
Administers oral contract to patients as needed. | |
Demonstrates knowledge of clinical norms for all age groups as applicable to job functions. | |
Keeps a daily record of helium and nitrogen levels in logbook and enters all variance or failure. | |
Implements imaging presentation state on PACS system for Radiologist. | |
Answers telephone inquiries, of a technical nature, from doctors of hospital personnel in other areas of the hospital. | |
Assists student technologist who may rotate through the MRI scanning area. | |
Initiates service call when necessary only. | |
Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc) when requested. | |
