Position Purpose

 

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist coordinates and directs clinical informatics and technology/automation projects, including, but not limited to updating, testing and maintenance of multiple pharmacy systems databases, collaborating with medical, nursing, ancillary and information systems staff on issues regarding the pharmacy system, technology/ automation and Computerized Prescriber Order Entry (CPOE) system and resolution of departmental charge issues. The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist assists in the gathering and interpretation of data to aid in the analysis of pharmacy projects, to provide accurate, current information to the medical staff and ancillary personnel in the area of pharmaceutical science, cost effectiveness and quality assurance. The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist participates in the development and execution of the department’s strategic and operational plan.

 

 

Reporting Relationships

 

 

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy. There are no positions reporting to this position.

Assists the Pharmacy Management Team in the revision, implementation, and competency assessment of all pharmacy personnel regarding pharmacy information systems and automation/ technology.

Provides clinical and technical expertise to department members.

 

Supports the Pharmacy Management Team plans to assure quality pharmacy services across the continuum of care, with specific emphasis on implementation, integration, standardization and maintenance of pharmacy informatics and automation/ technology systems to support this goal.

Collaborates with the Pharmacy Management Team plans and assists in the preparation of Pharmacy and Therapeutic agendas and supporting materials.

 

Represents the pharmacy department at medical staff committees as needed.

Supports policies and procedures approved by the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee with the use of pharmacy informatics systems and automation.

 

Acts as the primary educator for the department and chief liaison with nursing and the medical staff for pharmacy informatics and computerized medication processes.

Develops, supports and/or refines clinical programs, such as, but not limited to; antibiotic surveillance, implementation of National Patient Safety Goals.

 

Performs the duties of a staff pharmacist as necessary.

Bachelors

Pharmacy

 

 

 

Additional Information

Three years experience in hospital pharmacy work or completion of a hospital residency program accredited by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

License / Certification Requirements

Pharmacist’s License

Compensation Range 

$64.89-$88.01
