RN NICU FT Nights
Description
The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit. | |

Routinely attends NICU staff meetings, neonatology multidisciplinary meetings, and when able the monthly NICU/Respiratory meeting. | |
Participates in NICU interdisciplinary patient rounds. | |

Assists and supports a new or transferred employee through a planned orientation to a specific clinical area. | |
Collects and analyzes information about the patient and the environment for use in promoting and maintaining patient safety. | |
Management of the environment to promote infant security/safety including monitoring of the environment and parental education | |
Demonstrates ability to care for patients with arterial lines. | |
Collaborates with and assists the clinical manager, physicians, CNS, Clinical Quality and director with submission and aggregation of data according to standards and within established timelines. | |
Identifies staff competencies, educational needs and readiness to learn, mentors and coaches as needed or refers to CNS | |
Implements Infection Control procedures to reduce hospital acquired infections

Performs central line care as outlined in hospital policy and procedure. | |
Assists in breastfeeding education and process, including pump cleaning, with mothers.Knowledge of O2 therapy, airway insertion, and mechanical ventilation maintenance and weaning. | |
Ability to perform at a high risk delivery, including emergency neonatal resuscitation efforts and Code management. | |
