Description

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) works cooperatively with all team members in planning and performing basic care. The Certified Nurse Assistant supports patient care delivery and is responsible for adhering to all standards of care and for promoting teamwork among coworkers.

  • Utilizes Safe Patient Handling



Department Specific Competencies

  • Provides patient comfort and safety: ensures patient privacy keeps skin dry, clean and reports any reddened areas ensures that comfort supplies are easily accessible, eg tissues, water, grooming supplies makes beds ensuring cleanliness and comfort.

  • Initiates appropriate emergency measures for cardiac/respiratory arrest.

  • Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion when discussing patient information.

  • Relates patient/family questions to RN.

  • Answers pages from the staff promptly and courteously.

  • Adjusts the patient bed appropriately for the procedure.
