Description

The Patient Observer Technician works cooperatively with all members of the health care team in continuously monitoring patients, recognizing patient movement and proactively alerting nurses and other caregivers in an effort to prevent adverse events including: patient falls, patient elopement, patient safety and visitor monitoring, from a remote centralized monitoring station (CMS). The Patient Observer Technician also performs clerical and receptionist duties and assists clinical personnel with non clinical duties.

  • Answers phone and patient call system in a timely manner, uses proper phone etiquette, greets patients, visitors, physicians, and employees; ascertains needs and routes accordingly, takes and relays messages to personnel on the unit in a timely manner, ensures excellent customer service

  • Introduces self by name and position when answering phone and call system.

  • Acknowledges patients and family members as they come to front station.

  • Performs as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner

  • Observes, monitors and documents patient movement and interactions.

  • Communicates and redirects patients as needed.

  • Notes changes in patient movement and recognizes safety risks and responds accordingly.

  • Documents all patient interactions and communications.

  • Tracks patients transferring to and from unit and leaving for procedures to provide constant observation while on monitor.

Compensation Range:

$24.00 - $32.46 / Hour
