Description

The Supervisor of COR Cardiology supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned COR Cardiology Department(s). Under direction of the Director, the Supervisor oversees staffing levels, coordinates patient care flow, works assignments, directs and assists patients and provides staff coverage. The Supervisor provides for Human Resources development, continuous performance improvement, program development and financial management of department resources.

Core Competencies

  • Supervises daily staffing needs, work assignments and patient flow.

  • Hires, trains and supervises clinical and clerical staff. Provides and documents counseling and progressive discipline as indicated.

  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement clinical and departmental programs and systems to meet department goals for “best practices”.

  • Communicates effectively and proactively with staff, physicians, patients and family members, and other departments, to prevent and resolve problems and ensure quality service.

  • Functions as a key point person in implementation of new procedures workflows, equipment as needed.

  • Ensures orientation and training of clinical staff to department, job and safe use of equipment.

  • Facilitates staff meetings; leads open discussion of hospital/departmental values and work related issues. Encourages the exchange of ideas for improvement.

  • Develops and maintains staffing levels to meet the needs of the physicians, department and budgetary constraints. Anticipates and plans for changing needs. Modifies, staffing levels as necessary by authorizing additional staffing, “call-off” and CTO.

  • Keeps procedure manuals current according to regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains safe and clean work/patient environment according to hospital safety and security guidelines.

  • Acts as liaison between Healthcare Partners and department on contracting, billing, authorization, claims payment and other issues.

  • Addresses patient, physician, staff concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Provides effective performance appraisals, including the establishment of achievable goals and objectives, to direct reports.

  • Mediates staff conflicts and problems.

  • Communicates performance standards and expectations clearly to staff; assists staff in setting goals and meeting standards.

  • Maintains department facilities and equipment in a manner to promote safety, health and comfort of physicians, patients and family members and staff.

  • Evaluates and coordinates equipment repair and maintenance.

  • Ensures services meet all mandatory and accrediting requirements.

  • Tracks and monitors patient satisfaction and physician access and develops initiatives for better outcomes.


  • Evaluates staff learning needs and implements programs, sets mutual goals and provides in-services for staff development.

  • Addresses personnel issues in order to promote a healthy work environment

  • Provides frequent informal feedback on work performance and uses coaching techniques that promote employee growth in work performance.

  • Implements program/project and determines if objectives are being met and makes adjustment accordingly using LEAN methodology.

  • Acts as a role model verbally and behaviorally.

  • Ensures payroll is submitted bi-weekly in accordance with the deadlines set by Payroll Office

  • Addresses customer complaints and concerns promptly.

  • Develops, maintains and updates department policies and procedures; and develops and maintains training materials.

  • Performs duties of department staff, as needed.

 

Education

Degree Program
High School Diploma/GED or Higher Education General Studies

 


Experience

Additional Information
Strong familiarity with ambulatory practice management system and EHR.
;Proficient in Microsoft Office and excel.
;For clinical department assignment, MA or LVN required.

California Class C drivers license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

Compensation Range

$65,249.00 - $97,760.00 / Annually
