Description

The Nutrition Clerk is responsible for the management of diet order processing and patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. This position is also responsible for patient menu selection for all meals and other related clerical duties.

Core Competencies

  • Receives, records, and processes all patient diet orders.

  • Maintains a general knowledge and adherence to preparations of modified diets, portion control, eating and swallowing difficulties.

  • Maintains necessary patient information and meal services records (ie, meals served/unit, menu census, etc).

  • Obtains patient menu selections electronically, ensuring compliance with current diet order.

  • Informs kitchen lead of any late menu item add-ons for communication purposes to the patient cook on duty.

  • Prepares daily production sheets with meal forecast information and tallied food items.

  • Demonstrates a “customer service” orientation when performing job tasks.

  • Monitors computer print out orders for changes in diets, room transfers, admissions and discharges.

  • Maintains adequate supply of menus and office supplies.

  • Assumes checker position on trayline, responsible for checking each tray for accuracy according to the selected menu.

  • Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (LEAN projects, task forces, etc) when assigned.

  • Operates the computer and printer.

  • Demonstrates competency in providing health care service and maintaining interpersonal relationships in own job category to all age groups as applicable to job functions.

  • Answers telephone promptly, identifies self and job title, speaks clearly, takes/gives concise directions/messages.

Compensation Range
$24.00 - $26.76 / Hour
