Description

The Manager, COR Cardiology is responsible for the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the COR Cardiology Department. The Manager provides for Human Resources development, continuous performance improvement, program development and financial management of department resources.

  • Mediates staff conflicts and problems.

  • Ensures initial and ongoing competency of all staff, identifies key competencies; provides in service and training and collects aggregate data.

  • Develops and maintains staffing levels to meet the needs of the physicians, department and budgetary constraints. Anticipates and plans for changing needs. Modifies, staffing levels as necessary by authorizing additional staffing, “call-off” and CTO.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates clinical and departmental programs, policies and procedures. Collaborates with physicians as needed.

  • Ensures departments are operating in a manner consistent with Medical Center policies and procedures.

  • Manages supplies and equipment purchases within budgetary guidelines.

  • Provides input and makes recommendations for the department budget, and when approved, controls personnel and expenses accordingly.

  • Monitors department’s financial performance.

  • Trains and supervises Department staff on ensuring proper allocations of all expenses and revenues.

  • Manages payroll, payroll corrections, overtime usage for the department and serves as a resource for Accounting and Human Resources.

  • Manages the physician schedules; instructs staff accordingly, and makes recommendations for schedule improvement.

  • Addresses patient, physician, staff concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Serves as secretary for department physician meeting, JOC meeting and other committee meetings as requested. Develops agendas, records meeting minutes and coordinates meetings in conjunction with physicians.

  • Oversees credentialing information for each provider is completed in a timely manner and maintains all credentialing records for department physicians.

  • Oversees billing and collections and supervises billing/collections staff. Coordinates billing activities with hospital when required.

  • Creates reports that adequately describe department status relative to health plan and collection ratios. Investigates billing/collections problems as identified by staff.

  • Prepares monthly charges, collections, write-off reports by location.

  • Prepares contract analysis and performance reports for capitated and large fee-for-service payors.

  • Acts as liaison between Healthcare Partners and department on contracting, billing, authorization, claims payment and other issues.

  • Evaluates patient satisfaction and develops initiatives to enhance patient experience.

  • Facilitates staff meetings; leads open discussion of hospital/departmental values and work related issues. Encourages the exchange of ideas for improvement.

  • Ensures services meet all mandatory and accrediting requirements.

  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement clinical and departmental programs and systems to meet department goals for “best practices”.

  • Facilitates and assists with organizational process improvement events as well as mentoring peers in LEAN methodology.

  • Implements program/project and determines if objectives are being met and makes adjustment accordingly using LEAN methodology.

Additional Information
Bachelor's degree and 5 years healthcare management experience OR 15 years healthcare management experience.

License / Certification Requirements

California Class C drivers license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

 

Compensation Range

$89,290.00 - $145,246.00 / Annually
