Description

The Director, Benefits & Compensation is responsible for determining salary grade levels and working with management to develop Job Descriptions for new positions and determining an appropriate salary grade.  This position ensures our salary grades are competitive and equitable.  Participates in the design, implementation and administration of employee benefit programs.

Experience/Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree, Business, Human Resources
4 years experience in Compensation & Benefits

Compensation:

  • Designs, implements, and manages salary classification and compensation programs.
  • Performs collection of market data/analysis and salary recommendations based on available data.
  •  Reviews pay ranges structure and recommends adjustments; analyzes and compiles cost of such adjustments.
  • Oversees the pay increase process and annual incentive pay plans.  Prepares all communications materials, and coordinates implementation with HRIS.
  •  Assists Managers in writing job descriptions ensuring they are consistent and appropriate to the grade level assigned.
  •  Conducts designated salary/benefits surveys and other related surveys.
  •  Assists in the development of the annual compensation budget and provides a cost analysis for all compensation improvements or changes.
  • Administers promotional/demotion pay policies and assists department managers in effectively assigning rates.

  • Manages the Pension, Medical/Dental insurance, Life/LTD insurance, 401a/403b plan, cafeteria plan, and voluntary insurance plan
  • Ensures employees are aware of benefit levels, claims and enrollment regulations and procedures through a variety of employee brochures, handouts, and new employee orientation.
  • Reviews contract renewals, communications, problem resolution and vendor relationships.
  • Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers and third-party administrators related to specific employee concerns, benefit problems and managing of the programs
  • Prepares and submits IRS 5500 forms annually for all benefit plan
  • Manages the retirement plan (excluding investment activities).
  • Attends Pension Committee Meetings serves as Pension Administrator
  • Maintains pension records and audits retirement and lump sum distributions. Prepares and submits PBGC required documentation and premiums.
