Description
Coordinates the technical activities of the Nuclear Medicine Department, providing technical expertise for Technologists under the general supervision of the Radiologists. |

- Demonstrates ability to problem solve equipment failure, clerical error, and interdepartmental conflicts. Advance skilled Technologist able to work with minimal supervision.
- Exhibits working relationships that are characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust and respect. Supports co-workers when required by teaching/training new procedures, equipment usage and proper technique.
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned.
- Reports equipment malfunction to the proper personnel, initiates service or notifies Bio-medical Engineering department.
- Reports to supervisor any suggestions to increase productivity or quality of work.
- Accepts personal accountability for maintaining a safe work environment. Speaks up when others are taking safety risks. Follows rules designed for personal protection and environmental safety, including safe use of equipment. Department Specific Competencies |
- Performs responsibly and consistently when standing in for supervisor, including assignment of work duties to achieve maximum efficiency, coordinates breaks to maintain adequate coverage at all times, and displays sound judgment in decision making regarding patient care, assignments, and scheduling changes.
- Assumes responsibility for the radiation safety emergency response plan and serves on Emergency Management Committee.
- Follows up on supplies that are back ordered, delivered in error etc Assists supervisor to control unit supply costs.
- Follows Lean principles and creates SOPs for the Department as needed.
- Monitors and reports to the Unit Lead RN any patient or family complaints, intervening before issues arise and implements service recovery strategies as needed.
- Monitors the technical quality of work performed by the department and ensures continuous and effective flow of activity.
- Assists and supports a new or transferred employee through a planned orientation to a specific clinical area.
- Monitors and/or Resolves Issues: On RIS worklist for exams not completed or transcribed, on PACS for exams on exceptions list, on PACS primordial for QC Issues, reports all unresolved issues.
- Adheres to the Radiation Safety, Material Safety Data Sheet and Fire/Safety policies and procedures. Able to identify where information manuals are located.
- Advances professional knowledge and practice through continuing education.
- Assesses the daily staffing needs and assigns tasks/projects to staff. Makes recommendations for improvement.
