Description
| Under general supervision, performs secretarial, clerical, and a variety of general office functions, which include scheduling of appointments, verifying patient information, maintaining patient files, filing, processing outpatient charges, and making copies of pertinent documents. Extensive time spent on phone to coordinate scheduling for outpatients, verifying referrals, and obtaining necessary information from medical professional offices. |

- Performs clerical and receptionist duties required in the daily operations of the departments including telephone communication and all necessary word processing.
- Answers and handles a heavy volume of incoming calls.
- Answers the telephone courteously within three rings, identifying self and department, routes calls, ascertains needs and takes accurate messages as appropriate.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Greets patients and assures they are taken care of in a timely manner. Assists patients to check in on Tonic. Makes patient appointment schedules.
- Registers patients and assures they are taken care of in a timely manner.
- Picks up voice mail messages throughout the day according to department policy and procedure.
- Verifies patient’s insurance benefits from the payor, for services to be provided prior to the delivery of care.
- Makes photocopies as required.
- Ensures all information for patient billing is accurate and complete.
- Processes all credit card payments and payments received from patients.
- Notifies appropriate staff of patients arrival and/or escorts patient to room.
- Interfaces with M.D. offices and third party payors to obtain any medical information, diagnostic reports and authorization information needed by surgeons.
- Produces patient and department documents as needed.
- Assists in data entry as requested.
- Ensures that requested test results are available.
- Prepares and maintains statistical and outcome information for the department as required.
- Makes appointments and schedules meetings as requested
- Orders and maintains office supplies as required.
- Greets and registers patients for their outpatient appointment. Enters patient charges into computer and prepares charge documents as required.
- Solves patient service issue problems.
- Proofs billing/computer data as required.
- Evaluates and makes positive suggestions for change in the environment.
- Schedules surgeries; provides all necessary information to surgery schedulers.
