The Network Operations Center Sr NOC Engineer role at Xperi will participate in the day-to-day operations and work with a group of technicians responsible for Data Center Operations and Maintenance. The Sr Engineer handles Level 1 troubleshooting for all high priority incidents and critical alerts. The Senior Engineer ensures that operations are in accordance with established policies and procedures, monitors performance of infrastructure, features, and services, and will own incident management to drive resolution of high-priority outages.
In this role, you remain a key core team player and subject matter expert when onboarding new customers, features, and services. While onboarding new solutions, you will work to identify, create, and implement new training and systems, and manage projects and implement systems to improve overall site reliability and uptime.
 
What you will get to do:
  • Manage/Maintain Xperi’s 24x7 Infrastructure and application stacks
  • Work in a shift to support the 24/7 environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Make technical and process recommendations.
  • Assist in the day-to-day NOC operations, escalations, ticketing, and communications with all customers.
  • Assist with NOC shift operations and personnel.
  • Provides coordination and integration on upcoming projects/features as a NOC subject matter expert.
  • Help to improve processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the alert review and lower critical alert counts.
  • Respond to alerts and ensure triage of critical issues.
  • Execute project work to help achieve team goals.
  • Update and maintain all NOC documentation (runbooks) associated with systems, processes, procedures, features, services, infrastructure, and training for quicker resolution of incidents and alerts.
  • Define NOC requirements for monitoring tools.
  • Work with other teams to maintain site reliability and improve uptime.
  • Attend RCA’s and help coordinate efforts to identify the root cause and recommend solutions.
  • Work alongside NOC personnel to ensure all staff acquire the necessary skill sets to perform their job functions and meet departmental and individual goals.
  • Performs complex systems administration duties on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • This is an onsite role at our reporting into the Xperi office:
    • Full time in office 5 days a week
    • Schedule may between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:30pm PST (Monday-Friday)
    • May require working holidays or off-hours occasionally
    • Must be adaptable to Operational Requirements
 
Who we are looking for:
 
  • Experience working in a 24x7 NOC environment.
  • BCA or BE in Computer Science or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills in the Spanish language.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration skills.
  • Working knowledge of Monitoring systems such as PagerDuty, Splunk, Zabbix, AWS.
  • Working Knowledge of ticketing tools such as Jira, Service Now, PagerDuty.
  • Basic understanding of standard server hardware and architecture.
  • DNS and familiar tools for troubleshooting (e.g. ping, traceroute, netstat, route, nslookup, dig, etc.)
  • Distributed computing (load balancers, service clusters, server pools, communication via API, etc)
  • The high degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment
  • This is a non-exempt/hourly role.

The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $82,612 - $101,200 plus bonus and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
