Senior Embedded Linux Engineer (TV/STB Platform Integration)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to support the integration, customization, and optimization of TV/STB software platforms. The role focuses on working closely with SoC vendors, ODMs, and internal application teams to enable platform features, resolve system-level issues, and deliver stable product releases.

The engineer will work across software and hardware boundaries, including audio, video, display, HDMI, networking, system control, and voice-related subsystems.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Integration & Bring-up

• Integrate and customize Linux-based TV/STB software platforms on SoC reference designs and ODM products.
• Enable and validate platform features across multiple hardware configurations.
• Work with SoC SDKs, BSPs, and vendor deliverables to support product requirements.
• Support board bring-up, hardware validation, and platform readiness activities.

System Feature Enablement

Implement, integrate, and debug platform functionality related to:

• Audio subsystem (audio routing, device control, post-processing integration)
• HDMI subsystem (HDMI input/output, CEC, ARC/eARC, EDID handling)
• Video and display subsystem
• Picture Quality (PQ) controls and tuning interfaces
• User input and control interfaces
• System diagnostics and factory/debug tools

System Debugging & Optimization

• Investigate issues across application, middleware, framework, kernel, driver, and hardware layers.
• Analyze system logs, traces, dumps, and performance data to identify root causes.
• Support memory, CPU, boot-time, and stability optimization activities.
• Drive issue resolution with ODMs, silicon vendors, and internal engineering teams.

Product Delivery & Certification Support

• Support feature validation and productization activities throughout development.
• Collaborate with QA teams on issue reproduction and verification.
• Support compliance and certification activities including HDMI, Dolby, DTS, and related ecosystem requirements.
• Assist in resolving certification and interoperability issues.

Key Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of Embedded Linux software development and integration experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with Linux system software, BSPs, SDK integration, or platform enablement.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel concepts, device drivers, and system services.
• Experience debugging across application, middleware, kernel, and hardware layers.
• Good understanding of Yocto or similar embedded Linux build systems.
• Experience working with external vendors, ODMs, or silicon suppliers.

Highly Desirable

• Experience with Smart TV, Set-Top Box, Media Streaming, or Consumer Electronics products.
• Familiarity with:
• HDMI, CEC, ARC/eARC
• Audio frameworks and audio processing technologies
• Display and video pipelines
• IPC frameworks and Linux system services
• Experience with SoC platforms from MediaTek, Amlogic, Realtek, Broadcom, or similar vendors.
• Exposure to Dolby, DTS, HDMI, Netflix, Google TV, or operator certification processes.
