Senior Manufacturing Staff Accountant – TimberQuest
Reports to: VP of Finance
Classification: Full-Time | Exempt
Location: Remote (West Region: CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ) — Quarterly travel to Milpitas, CA
Note: Manufacturing cost accounting experience is required for this role.

As our Senior Manufacturing Staff Accountant, you will be a key contributor in managing cost accounting and financial operations within a dynamic, hands-on manufacturing environment. This role supports daily accounting activities while delivering financial insights that inform operational and strategic decisions.
We’re looking for an analytical, detail-oriented professional with deep experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing workflows—ideally within a construction-adjacent or small-batch production setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cost accounting and inventory management for modular manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate labor, material, and overhead allocation.
  • Partner with factory leadership and project teams to evaluate job cost performance and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare and review sales and use tax filings; ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial reporting and internal controls; support quarterly and annual audits.
  • Prepare and analyze margin, cash flow, and cost trend reports to support leadership decision-making.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects.
  • Support project-based accounting and administrative activities as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in manufacturing or cost accounting (small-batch, non-automated environments preferred).
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Viewpoint Vista, Power BI, or Prophix is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed environment.
  • CPA or CMA preferred, but not required.

  • Salary range: $94,000 – $115,000 (commensurate with experience and geographic location)
