Location: Indianapolis, IN
Are you ready to dive into the world of real estate market analysis? Thompson Thrift is seeking an enthusiastic Market Research Intern for Summer 2026 to join our corporate office in Indianapolis. This is an amazing chance to gain hands-on experience in supporting our annual multifamily real estate development objectives through data-driven insights and analysis.
What You'll Do:
- Trend Monitoring: Track and predict market development trends to support strategic decision-making.
- Strategy Evaluation: Measure effectiveness of current marketing and development strategies.
- Data Collection: Gather market conditions, competitor property details, and resident demographics using both primary and secondary research.
- Analysis: Organize and interpret data using appropriate statistical tools, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Visualization: Create visualizations, including GIS mapping, to present complex findings clearly.
- Reporting: Generate Market Intel reports, quarterly tracking, prioritization studies, and actionable insights for clients and senior management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development and property management teams to meet market and site-specific information needs.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong mathematics, statistical analysis, and reasoning abilities.
- Experience: Familiarity with data visualization and analysis tools is a plus; knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is also beneficial.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Professional Qualities: Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
- Team Player: Performs work under direct supervision, handling basic issues independently and escalating complex problems appropriately.
About the Program:
Our full-time, 12-week internship program runs from May to August and is designed to offer you hands-on experience, meaningful connections, and significant growth opportunities:

- Meet and Greet with our CEOs and Owners, John Thompson & Paul Thrift.
- Intentional exposure to Executives, Business Unit Leaders, and Senior Leadership.
Professional Development:
- Peer Panel Discussions with recent college graduates to gain insights on transitioning to full-time roles.
- Networking Opportunities with former interns who have successfully transitioned into full-time positions.
- Mock Presentations to enhance public speaking and presentation skills.
- Final Presentation opportunity to showcase your work to fellow interns, executives, teams, and owners.
Hands-On Experience:
- Site Visit to a multifamily residential property to see projects in action.
- Participation in the TT Intern Serve event, collaborating with a local partner to positively impact our community.
- Cross-departmental meetings to understand the various facets of Thompson Thrift’s operations.
