Your Role as Lead Material Procurement Estimator

As the Lead Material Procurement Estimator, you will oversee advanced market research, cost analysis, and vendor relationship management across all Thompson Thrift markets. You'll lead a team of procurement estimators, guiding their daily operations while collaborating with preconstruction and field teams to ensure procurement efforts meet company standards.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct advanced market research and provide accurate cost data and supplier contacts.
  • Lead procurement estimating staff in daily activities, prioritizing tasks and ensuring quality.
  • Develop and implement procurement tracking and delivery practices.
  • Analyze market and industry trends to guide decision-making and adjust procurement strategies.
  • Establish strong vendor relationships and monitor performance.
  • Support preconstruction teams during the estimating phases.
  • Coordinate material handoffs and conduct site meetings with field crews.
  • Maintain and update estimating tools including PlanSwift templates and reporting tools.
  • Evaluate project closeouts and compare material usage with estimates.

 

Our Ideal Candidate for this Role

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years in a procurement or estimating role in the construction industry.
    • Alternatively, 6 years with an associate degree or 8 years with a GED.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Procore, and PlanSwift.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor peers and manage complex projects.
