Summer 2025 Internship: Civil & Landscape Design Intern
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Ready to dive into the world of civil design? Thompson Thrift is offering an exciting internship for Summer 2025 where you’ll work closely with our Civil & Landscape Design and Preconstruction teams. This role is perfect for students eager to gain hands-on experience and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of residential projects!
As an intern, you’ll help oversee the site design for residential projects including vertical design, as well as amenity design. Your expertise will span civil engineering, landscape architecture, and more.
Your Role:
- Ensure Excellence: Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and adherence to our Residential Design Standards.
- Shape the Future: Collaborate with our vertical design team to create the overall vision and aesthetic of our properties.
- Innovate Amenities: Design and coordinate unique amenities like pools, sport courts, pavilions, and more.
- Streamline Processes: Assist in plan reviews, identify constructability issues, and provide cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing solutions.
- Guide Development: Maintain our Residential Design Guidelines Manual and ensure all project documentation is up to date and compliant.
What We’re Looking For:
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Acrobat Professional; AutoCAD is a plus).
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans.
- Strong multitasking skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site when needed.

About the Program:
Our full-time, 12-week internship program runs from May to August and is designed to offer you hands-on experience, meaningful connections, and significant growth opportunities:
