Your Role as a Preconstruction Project Engineer

Based in Indianapolis, IN, this role supports projects from schematic design through transition to construction, with a focus on estimating, budgeting, bidding, and design coordination. You’ll work alongside experienced preconstruction leaders and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of multifamily development.

This is not a passive or observational role — you’ll actively contribute while building a strong foundation in preconstruction and estimating!

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with cost estimating, quantity takeoffs, and bid preparation for multifamily construction projects
  • Support budget development, feasibility studies, and early project planning
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction Managers, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders
  • Help manage the bidding and subcontractor evaluation process
  • Support the handoff from preconstruction to construction, ensuring projects are set up for success
  • Apply construction knowledge and best practices to support accurate, thoughtful decision-making
  • Contribute as a proactive, collaborative team member in a fast-paced environment

 

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

Experience

  • 0–3 years of experience in construction, preconstruction, estimating, internships, or co-op roles
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
