Your Role as Construction Plan Review Specialist
In this role, you will collaborate with Thompson Thrift Residential, the Architectural Engineering team, and various TTC departments to enhance plan constructability and ensure consistency, with the goal of reducing the volume of RFIs on projects and increasing efficiencies for future projects.
 
Key Responsibilities & Duties
  •  Plan Review and Enhancement: Analyze building materials for practicality and recommend improvements to construction drawings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors to adjust building types and optimize plans.
  • Cost Analysis: Assess the cost-effectiveness of products and materials, ensuring affordability and tracking actual costs.
  • Drawing Consistency: Participate in drawing reviews and quality control meetings to ensure plans align with construction expectations.
  • Innovative Problem Solving: Review RFIs to find solutions that reduce the need for RFIs on future projects
  •  Product Research: Research new products, determining pricing and specifications to find the best fit for company standards.
  • System Development: Continue innovating to develop efficient systems for quickly adjusting plans.
 
Our Ideal Candidate for this Role
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar role, with experience in construction project management or related areas. Experience in architectural design, preconstruction, and/or quality control is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attributes: Ability to work independently, proactively solve problems, and influence team members to achieve common goals.
Schedule and Travel
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Travel Requirements: As needed to support project needs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This role involves light physical activity, such as frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. You may be required to walk on uneven surfaces and visit construction sites where you may be exposed to dust, fumes, and heavy machinery. Regular use of computers and monitors is also required
