Living and working in Brockville | The Royal
- Provide professional social work services and interventions, including psychotherapy, individual/ family/group therapy and interventions, psychosocial assessment, risk assessment and management, crisis intervention and discharge planning, to clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Develop and implement creative treatment, recovery and therapy plans, and support services and programs responsive to clients’ needs following according to the best practice and consistent with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
- Provide controlled act of psychotherapy in accordance with the hospital’s practice standards of Controlled Act of Psychotherapy and the College (OCSWSSW) Practice Guidelines for Performing the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy.
- Engage in client- and family-centered care.
- Engage client, family and caregivers in clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the interdisciplinary team.
- Advocate on behalf of clients, families and caregivers for appropriate services and resources.
- Collaborate, consult and liaise with the interdisciplinary team and community service providers.
- Provide timely and comprehensive written assessments, treatment and discharge reports.
- Participate in the teaching, education and supervision of Social Work students.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and data collection, in accordance with hospital, college and legislative standards.
- Participate in the development and delivery of education, presentations and psycho-education for clients, families, service provides, the community, and staff members.
- Participate in Social Work meetings, peer consultation, clinical consultation, committees, treatment care conferences and research.
- Complete and maintain all requirements for registration with OCSWSSW.
- Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing literature, reading articles, attending educational events and networking with colleagues.
- Keep current on hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG.
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment and Discrimination Free policy.
- Master degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a mental health setting. Experience in working with forensic clients is an asset.
- Experience in practicing controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) with qualified training/supervision according to the standards of the hospital and College (OCSWSSW).
- High level of knowledge, skill and confidence in using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation and navigation.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
- Strong client- and family-centered approach.
- Understanding of recovery-based treatment and programs of clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Experience in individual, family, and group therapy/intervention, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessment, risk assessment and management, discharge planning and liaising with community service providers is an asset.
- Knowledge, skills and training in concurrent disorders are preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources, Mental Health Court, Ontario Review Board and applicable legislated acts (MHA, PHIPA, The Health Care Consent Act, etc.).
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of a professional social worker.
- Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a professional inter-disciplinary team environment.
- Strong advocacy and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and work ethics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work variable hours, evenings and weekends if required.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

Salary Range: | $46.33 to $57.26 per hour |
