• Provide a full range of occupational therapy service in the area of Adult Dual Diagnosis (Mental Illness and Developmental Delay). This will include sensory, ADL assessments, recommendations regarding treatment planning to be carried out by other caregivers and providing education to community, family members, caregivers and hospital providers.
• Travel throughout the Champlain Health Region and deliver service in a variety of community, residential and institutional settings.
• Provide individual occupational therapy assessment and individual treatment to referred adult clients.
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary treatment planning.
• Attend clinical and program meetings as required.
• Contribute to inter-agency assessment and care-planning. The team will include staff or partner organizations.
• Liaise with appropriate community agencies as required.
• Develop with the other team members of the interdisciplinary team education regarding assessment and treatment of individuals with Dual Diagnosis.
• Contribute to furthering of the goals of the Occupational Therapy profession including attending monthly meetings.
• Enter workload measurement data according to hospital policies.
• Develops therapeutic groups with input from clients, families, and other natural supports, and

• Adhere to hospital and program policies and procedures, and to the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario standards.
• Must be willing to discuss performance of other duties as requested by program/discipline/hospital.
• Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal. 
• Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Discrimination and Harassment-Free Workplace policy. 

• Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSc (OT)) or equivalent according to the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario standards.
• Minimum of 3 years Occupational Therapy experience, preferably with adults with severe mental illness and or Intellectual Disability.
• Member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario mandatory.
• Membership in CAOT and OSOT preferred.
• Experience with developing and leading psycho-educational and therapeutic groups is essential.
• Experience with recovery based programs for the seriously mentally ill is essential.
• Experience in completing sensory assessments and implementing sensory based interventions is essential.
• Excellent communication skills, organizational ability, critical thinking and goal setting skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Knowledge of applicable legislated acts (i.e. MHA, The Health Care Consent Act).
• Ability to work independently and sound clinical judgment.
• Experience in community consultation is an asset.
• Ability to work in a team; establish and maintain good working relations.
• Access to a reliable vehicle for day to day operations of the team
• Valid G Driver’s License
• English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression.   

Salary Range:

40.36 to  56.30 per hour
