The Network Systems Analyst position will help maintain, support and monitor the network systems for The Royal. This includes participating in the planning, developing, installing, configuration and optimization of all local and some wide area network connections, communication links, corporate servers and associate software. This position troubleshoots network performance issues, monitors and analyzes network traffic and working with the Network Systems Analyst and provides options for capacity planning solutions.
Duties:
Datacentre:
- Supports, maintains and services existing datacentre infrastructure, mostly comprised of HPE hardware
- Ensures stable operation and efficient performance of servers and datacentre network
- Participates in planning, selecting, sizing and purchasing datacentre hardware as The Royal’s IT moves forward
- Strong knowledge of backup and restore systems
- Keeps up-to-date comprehensive documentation on all datacentre elements
- Works in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
- Ensures a work environment that is conductive to the Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, and Discrimination-Free Workplace policy.
Microsoft AD:
- Manages The Royal’s AD infrastructure including Federation and trust relationships with partner organizations or SaaS providers.
- Experience and working knowledge of PKI Infrastructure
- Manages, modifies and creates end user accounts, permissions, access rights with security and confidentiality being the highest priority
- Manages and implements Group Policies for users, workstations and servers
- Works with Application Team on Azure environment providing them with necessary technical support and keeping security up to The Royal’s standards
Infrastructure:
- Manages, supports and monitors main datacentre components:
- Physical servers, HPE C7000 and Synergy enclosures and tape libraries
- HPE fibre-attached storage arrays (3PAR and Nimble)
- vSphere ESXi hosts and VCSA
- Fibre and Ethernet switches
- Installs, administers and upgrades essential back end software:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and 2019
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 and 2016
- vSphere ESXi and VCSA
- DBMS (with Application team)
- Networking
- Working knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers and Web Application Firewalls Strong Asset)
- Monitoring and troubleshooting LAN/WAN with 3rd party vendor
Operations:
- Works as tier 2 resource for Client Support team, responding to escalated user support requests (ticketing system and phone calls)
- Interacts with end users directly on escalated support cases
- Occasionally travels offsite to other locations in Eastern Ontario
- Participates in the Team’s 24/7 on-call rotation (1 week duty periods)
Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science with at least 5 years of experience as a Network support resource.
- Experience in a Microsoft environment (Active Directory) and a good understanding of LAN and WAN environments.
- Experience with Active Directory Federated Services
- Working knowledge of Azure AD
- Experience with VMware ESXi,
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2013/2016/2019
- Experience with Security systems including Firewall, Intrusion Prevention, Intrusion Detections, Web and email gateways
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2008 R2/2016/2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Print Services, NPS,DNS and DHCP
- Technical proficiency in networking: LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, QoS, IP trunking, wireless 802.11x, Security, IP Routing, etc.
- Installing, supporting and maintaining network, datacenter hardware and SAN Technologies
- Backup and recovery of servers.
- Experience with Microsoft RDS, Web Proxy, Linux, PowerShell Scripting, Software Deployment and MAC OS is considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability and initiative to independently stay abreast of current and emerging information technology trends.
- Demonstrated skill in problem solving and troubleshooting computer hardware, software and network connectivity.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.

- Must have car and able to travel occasionally between sites across Eastern Ontario
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Salary Range: | 46.21 to 53.56 per hour |
