Group/Team: Design + Marketing
Reports to:

Marketing Mentorship: Marketing Associate
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Part-time, 20-week contract, hourly
Time Period: Jan. 25–Jun. 11, 2027
WHO WE ARE
We're all creatives here, even if your title doesn't say so.
MAS is an award-winning experiential agency driven by people who care deeply about the work and the impact it creates. We design immersive environments, live moments, and digitally integrated experiences that challenge brands to move beyond the expected.
At MAS we don't settle for anything less than more. We'd rather hear the idea that scares us than the one that plays it safe, so bring your boldest self, we’re built for it. We're not for everyone. But we're everything for our people.
MAS is a member of the Opus Group, a collective of agencies including Verve and Opus Agency who together create experiences that create action for the world's most influential brands. That gives us shared services across IT, HR, Finance, and Legal, and a network of teams we lean on for best practices and global resources.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The MAS Residency program is a 20-week tasting of our MAS special sauce — who we are, what we do, and how we do it. It's a deep dive into the experiential marketing industry, where fresh minds can immerse themselves in our world (and our clients’). During this time, residents will have the opportunity to hone and grow their skills, while also uncovering new interests and opportunities along the way. Ultimately this is a unique chance to collaborate closely with leading experts in the field, forge invaluable professional connections, actively contribute to the agency’s perspective, and depart with substantial portfolio work.
We’re not looking for coffee runners, we’re looking for cultural collaborators! Recent grads, grad students, or anyone in the event marketing industry can apply - we're looking for standout candidates ready to go above and beyond what is asked for. We want relentless learners, envelope-pushers, and creatives who are immune to ordinary thinking. You’re not just here to sit in and watch how the magic happens; you’re here to roll up your sleeves and help shape the future for the world’s most influential brands.
Now you might be thinking, this all sounds great, but what does Visual Design look like at MAS? Good question! This role is the ultimate hybrid for a visual storyteller who understands how to make a brand pop online and in real life.
We’re looking for a visual thinker grounded in graphic design, with an appetite for storytelling and a curiosity for how ideas can grow across marketing, culture, and experiences. You’ll work across Design and Marketing, creating social and internal marketing materials while developing your broader design practice through active client and experiential projects. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to presentation storytelling, visual systems, environmental graphics, production, and the creative workflows behind live experiences.
You’re not expected to know all of this walking in. We’re looking for curiosity, an emerging point of view, and a willingness to learn through making, feedback, repetition, and close looking.
Feeling it? Awesome, we’d love to have you!
YOU SHOULD HAVE
A strong foundation in graphic design, including typography, composition, hierarchy, and visual storytelling, with curiosity about visual systems and how design translates across digital, print, and experiential applications.
Working proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), with an appetite to deepen your technical craft. Premiere Pro or After Effects is a plus.
Curiosity or experience beyond the traditional design toolkit, whether that’s Figma, TouchDesigner, AI-assisted creative tools like Flora, generative workflows, or systems-based design. We’re interested in how you explore new ways of making, not just which tools you already know.
Google Workspace (including Slides, Sheets, Docs, and Drive) knowledge and an interest in building clear, compelling presentation decks.
Required: A design portfolio that proves your talent for visual storytelling and graphic design, whether self-taught, freelance, or built through traditional experience.
An understanding of organic and paid social media analytics: how to interpret and create a strategy.
A drive to soak up industry knowledge, ask questions, and be proactive in every task you take on.
Interest in researching brand marketing, competitor strategy, and industry trends.
Experience writing and designing social-first copy, optimized for LinkedIn and Instagram. Bonus if you have SEO and keyword experience.
Interest in learning how Marketing, PR, and New Business work together to tell the story of MAS and its work.
Clear and confident written and verbal skills, across drafting emails, participating in video calls, messaging the team, and more.
Solid time-management and basic project-management abilities to help keep fast-moving projects on track.
Comfort with shifting priorities, evolving briefs, and learning how to make clear design decisions within real-world timelines.
Interest in understanding how social performance and audience behavior can inform creative decisions.
Note: you will need access to a personal laptop for the duration of the 20-week program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in a collaborative resident initiative that creates meaningful value for MAS while bringing the cohort’s unique perspective to the agency.
Partner with Marketing to concept and design content across social, email, case studies, internal communications, and other channels that showcase MAS’s creative capabilities, work, and perspective.
Work alongside the Design team on active client projects, contributing to concept development, presentation design, visual systems, experiential graphics, environmental applications, mock-ups, and production-ready assets.
Participate in regular Design critiques, mentorship, and skill-building, learning to articulate creative decisions, receive feedback, and develop work through iteration.
Gain exposure to different stages of an experiential project, from early creative development and client presentations through production and execution.
Collaborate on the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring all visual assets and messaging perfectly align with the MAS brand voice.
Compile project assets, performance data, and client narratives to write and design beautiful, comprehensive case studies for the website and New Business team.
Partner with the New Business team to design targeted marketing materials and customize pitch decks that support prospect outreach and RFPs.
Assist in social media content scheduling and review performance analytics to understand which designs and copy formats drive the most engagement.
Keep the team inspired by sharing interesting brand activations, emerging platforms, or experiential trends.
Act as an engaged team member who contributes to MAS’s culture, perspective, and growth.
Note: you will need access to a personal laptop for the duration of the 20-week program.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN RETURN
Dedicated mentorship across both Design and Marketing, with regular opportunities for feedback and development.
Hands-on experience across internal marketing and active client work, with exposure to how experiential projects move from concept through execution.
A structured Design curriculum focused on technical craft, typography, production, visual systems, design judgment, and confidence within a professional creative team.
Temporary position with potential for contract extension or conversion
A collaborative, inclusive, and enthusiastic team
